PASS at La Colonie in Paris Daily Runnings
Chimurenga returns to Paris for a 5-day intervention and installation at La Colonie. From December 13 – 17, 2017, we will install a live radio station and a research library, and host talks, screenings and performances that asks ‘Who Killed Kabila?’, as the starting point for an in-depth investigation into power, territory and the creative imagination.
Thursday 14 December
16.00 – Journalist Percy Nzomuya examines the involvement of Zimbabwe in the DRC wars, and its impact in the subsequent political crisis in Zimbabwe.
17.00 – Drawing from Requiem for Revolution, her film trilogy about the African liberation struggle, Jihan El-Tahri (and guests) look at the players in the DRC wars and the motives behind the assassination of Kabila.
18.00 – DJ and label boss (Nouvelle Ambiance, Sofrito) Hugo Mendez investigates the pan African music scene of Paris in the 1980s. In conversation with producer Cyriaque Bassoka – the man behind many of the soukouss records of the period.
19.00 – Univers Rumba Congolaise
22.00 until late – J Boddhi Satva Live. Renown as the founding father of Ancestral Soul, French producer and DJ Boddhi Satva’s music combines a deep seated spirituality with soul music, house rhythms and numerous African music styles.
