‘Not Only Our Land But Also Our Souls’ This show will explore how the African Diaspora experiences cities and urban environments, with particular attention to notions of (un)belonging. We want to analyse the relationship between race and space and examine the movement of African people through migration, both forced and voluntary; displacement, both internal and external, and gentrification, with particular focus on the city as a space of diasporic settlement. – Presented by Mahamed Abdullahi & Imani Robinson

‘They go say I don’t be woman!’ With Fela being referred to as ‘the last political musician,’ this show explores how the male figure is so often centred in music. Starting by unpacking the term ‘political music,’ this is a conversation on how music can become divided into gendered binaries due to masculine definitions of power and intellect. We attempt to rectify this by centering the feminine across different genres and looking at how women from the African Diaspora have …
