This week at Tagore’s

Tagore’s Jazz Bar [ 42 Trill Road, Observatory, Cape Town ]

Wednesday 13 June: Blacky Tempi’s Quartet featuring legendary pianist Tete Mambisa. Big sounds, swinging township melodies, sophisticated soulful harmonic voicings and a celebratory African rhythmic drive. Basically, the stuff of legends. Don’t miss it.

Thursday 14 June: As Robert Glasper (channelling Taiwa Molelekwa) put it: ” I am not the future, I am now. Jazz is so far behind that the present actually looks like the future.” Nuff said.

Friday 15 June: Hassan’adas combine a little Samba groove with a splash of Marrabenta all fused with a twist of African jive.

Saturday 16 June: Hilton Schilder’s trio mix jazz, urban Khoi, goema and crossover sounds
