The uprising of Hangberg

In one of the few news articles publicising the forced, physically and violent removals of people in the Hangberg one community member is quoted as saying: “No land for the poor but land enough for the horse owners.”

  1. hi all, Dylan here, one of the filmmakers that put this film together.
    A lot of it is in Afrikaans, which if you cant understand, i will try and fill in for you.The film is about the very recent attacks on the community of Hangberg in Cape Town.
    The area is built on a scenic hill where a David and Goliath battle between the City and the community is taking place.

  7. This is another crucial element to the story. The city started claiming the fire break was the main reason for wanting to evivt people – for their own safety. Ras Benji who works for SAN Parks is explaining how the fire break is arbitrary and can be moved. Its not a fixed path, but can be moved and is moved in another areas and situations.
