DALAFLAT MUSIC
[display_podcast] A live set by Andre Manuel, co-founder of DalaFlat Music. Dala Flat is a movement born out of the need to preserve the heritage and culture of the Cape region in a contemporary way and aims to uplift black communities through the arts and humanities. Dala Flat is more than just music, words, visual art, dance, the odd performance and party, it is a way and state of belief. A movement for true change in South Africa.
Sound Sculptures (vol 1) by Theo Parrish
Sound sculptor and techno auteur Theo Parrish will perform for the 1st time in Africa during PASS 2010. Here’s vol 1 from his “Sound Sculptures” opus. Book at Computicket – this is a must.
3rd & 4th movement – Blue Notes for Mongezi
[display_podcast] Off “Blue Notes for Mongezi”. The remaining 4 Blue Notes, Dudu Pukwana, Chris McGregor, Louis Moholo and Johnny Dyani, recorded this suite, spontaneous compositions, on the day of Mongs’ memorial in London; 3 days after his death (murdered by Apartheid and the coldness of exile and more directly, medical negligence). Hard to find more emotion packed in a single recording.
