Ncesh Nonxishi is a Johannesburg-based composer and singer-songwriter born and raised in Mdantsane and Ntabozuko in the Eastern Cape. Traversing themes of sex, friendship, power, history and the South African political landscape, her music is influenced by songs from her childhood, isiXhosa folk music, church hymns, pop, R&B and jazz.
Ncesh Nonxishi,’s debut album Apho Kungenje was released in October 2024 and is co-produced by Bokani Dyer. Featured on the album is Lindi Ngonelo, Gally Ngoveni, Siphiwe Shiburi, Lungile Kunene, Linda Tshabalala, Lebo Pangwa, Nneka Manzi and Mthunzikazi Mbungwana.
