Dan Shout
Dan Shout Quartet
The Dan Shout and his Quartet fuse driving post-rock, jazz and hard-cooking bebop with fierce African echoes to create original head nodding, feet tapping sounds.
Dan has performed at venues and festivals local and internationally. Some of his highlights include performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague (2004), the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Germany, Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Concert at Ellis Park (2007), Festival Rhythm Africaine in Bastille, Paris for Bastille Day, (2007), Festival Paleo in Nyon, Switzerland (2010) and the Johnny Clegg “Human” tours to France, U.S.A. and Canada (2011).
Whilst not touring, Dan performs with his orginal jazz-fusion band, SHOUT. His debut album, Greetings & Salutations features original compositions alongside pieces by various friends and colleagues from bands in years gone.
Magic Carpet Ride, one of Dan’s other projects led by Craig de Sousa and Nick Matthews, features vocalist Mel Scholtz, guitarist Gorm Helfjord, Italian multi-instrumentalist Ricardo Moretti and vocalist R.J. Benajmin grooving on African acid-jazz’ed, lounge-infused beats.
Dan also plays saxophone with Frank Paco Art Ensemble, Gavin Minter Sestet and Haydn Gardner & The Hot Shots and regularly features as a guest artist with The Rudimentals, 7th Son, Hog Hoggidy Hog, The Restless Natives and Dave Ledbetter and the Clearing.
