Through music and discussion, this show will explore ‘African’ electronic music, its production and consumption on the continent and in Europe. It will look into what its increasing popularity on dancefloors in the ‘West’ does for Africa in terms of representation, appreciation and success and whether it might be a portal to other aesthetic strategies which could significantly fight against the power of Western cultural hegemony.
