Robert Glasper, Kenny Garrett, Andile Yenana, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman and Richard Bona are just a few of the names jazz crew Ological Studies drop as influences.
As might be expected then, their sound is an eclectic brew that owes as much to free jazz as it does to funk and soul.
Featuring Sibusiso Dlamini (piano, keyboard, vocals), Phumlani Mtiti (alto saxophonist) and an ever shifting ensemble of friends, Ological scored themselves a SAMA award for their 2011 album Free-dom.
