Ethan Smith (Sax, Flute), Kyle Shepherd (Piano), Brydon Bolton (Double Bass) and Claude Cozens (Drums) shift through various textures, volumes, combinations and timbres to create a natural musical chemistry of beauty and power.
Here ecstatic Goema rhythms, elegiac Eastern melodies, folk forays and joyous African jazz harmonies organically intertwine with more tranquil and controlled investigations into of space and disturbance.
Or, as Ethan put it, “We are beginning to establish a great togetherness, a synergy. Because of the creative impetus of each member in the band, there is this sense of constant shape shifting, this constant ebb and flow between form and formlessness within the music – which makes for exciting listening.”
