online radio festival
The Pan African Space Station will present Exile and the Creative Imagination, streamed live as part of Online Radio Festival 2017, happening at Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam on Friday 19th May. The one-day festival will feature performances and live broadcasts from major internet based radio platforms, including Boiler Room and Red Light Radio.
From 13:00 via onlineradiofestival.net, PASS will take listeners on an hour-long exploration into the legacy of the seminal Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC ’77) held in Lagos, Nigeria in 1977. The program pays tribute to artists and thinkers who participated in the festival and ensuing conversations, including Stevie Wonder, Jonas Gwangwa, The Blue Notes, Keorapetse Kgotsitsile, Wole Soyinka, Sun Ra, Myriam Makeba, Tabu Ley Rochereau and more.
Interrogating issues of place and nationhood, and the resistance of borders and boundaries through imaginative agency, Exile and the Creative Imagination will generate a historical and critical sonic presentation of the largest pan-African gathering ever to have taken place at the time. Tune in to listen.
