London’s Shabaka Hutchings (Zed-U; Polar Bear; Heliocentrics; Sons of Kemet; etc.) with Bra Tebs coming to you live from Tagore’s Jazz Bar, 42 Trill Road, Observatory, Cape Town.
If you don’t know, Bra Tebs (Louis Moholo-Moholo) is the only surviving founder of the famed Blue Notes (who civilised Europe in the mid-60s by teaching them how to play free!)

Bra Tebs with Shabaka Hutchings tonight at Tagore’s Jazz Bar, 42 Trill Road, Observatory, Cape Town from 9.30pm. If you don’t know, Bra Tebs (Louis Moholo-Moholo) is the only surviving founder of the famed Blue Notes (who civilised Europe in the mid-60s by teaching them how to play free!) Don’t miss this. 3rd & 4th movement – Blue Notes for Mongezi
Off “Blue Notes for Mongezi”. The remaining 4 Blue Notes, Dudu Pukwana, Chris McGregor, Louis Moholo and Johnny Dyani, recorded this suite, spontaneous compositions, on the day of Mongs’ memorial in London; 3 days after his death (murdered by Apartheid and the coldness of exile and more directly, medical negligence). Hard to find more emotion packed in a single recording.
